Today’s beautiful Psalm 71 sings, “On you I depend from birth; from my mothers womb you are my strength…”
This passage made me think of Bishop Walkowiak’s beautiful January 2019 letter to all of us in the Diocese of Grand Rapids and his statement to “pray for those who have a remarkably singular disregard for the life of the unborn…”
His Excellency’s invitation to everyone to “pray that God’s compassionate mercy and healing may touch the hearts of the elected officials who worked so hard to pass recent abortion laws” can only be offered with God’s grace and the Spiritual Works of Mercy as our loving defense of the unborn: Counseling the Doubtful for those unexpectedly carrying a child in their womb; Instruct the Ignorant to legislators who choose not defend human life at all stages; Admonish the Sinner by offering, as a sinner, loving mercy and forgiveness; Comfort the Sorrowful to those who deeply regret their life-changing decisions; Pray for the Living & The Dead, including the 60 million children who have died as a result of our Supreme Courts decision.
On you I depend from birth; from my mothers womb you are my strength…”
