Lent is already feeling like it has flipped into turbo!
Last Monday’s 3.4.19 Gospel according to Mark 10:17-27 had a profound affect as we prepared to begin this year’s Lenten practices of prayer, fasting and almsgiving…the ALMSGIVING portion really was heavy on my heart…Jesus’s words of “how hard it is to enter the Kingdom of God” really is so true…a lifetime spent in driving personal plans, establishing professional aspirations, resulting in accolades and achievements, accompanied by a growing pocketbook; all promising to satisfy my hunger for greater happiness, health, comfort, and security…
Last Tuesday’s build-up-to-Ash-Wednesday’s Gospel according to Mark 10:28-31 picks up where Monday left off…” Amen, I say to you, there is no one who has given up house…or lands….for my sake and for the sake of the gospel who will not receive a hundred times more now in this present age…” rang the bell.
I really good find clear-headedness offering special alms in this manner this Lent, and truly be free in Christ’s grace, to better prepare for renewing my Baptismal promises on Easter! All lovingly done in the name of Jesus!
Love alone, our Christ is our hunger, the craving that will assuredly draw me out of the clutches of things. In Him, is my hope, my salvation!
