HEART
This portion of the UPRISE icon represents love and caring, the Sacred Heart, and Jesus’ eternal love for all humanity.
It also reflects the passion young adults feel when they embrace their Catholic faith, and activate the love in their heart, which deepens with service, care, and interconnectedness with others.
In addition, it symbolizes the interlocking hands of unity of our universal church, all around the world.
FLAME
We then added a symbol of inspiration, a burning red flame of love, an everlasting devotion.
It’s a reminder to let the Fire of the Holy Spirit fill and purify your heart for a deeper care, concern, and boldness of Catholic faith-in-action.
Entrusted to each of us at our baptism to be kept burning brightly, this Holy Flame also represents being on fire for our faith, and walking always as children of the Christ’s light and love.
CROSS
Our cross is the cross of Christ’s suffering and redemption, given to us in sacrificial love by His love for each of us.
It is also our commitment to remain strong and steadfast in our Catholic faith, no matter what life brings.
It indicates that if we strive to surrender our wants for the benefit of others and the Holy Will of the Lord, we can humbly give of ourselves as His instruments of generosity, especially when our crosses of life come our way.
